The European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology was established in Lugano in 2008 to offer high quality post graduate training to ophthalmologists in Europe and in the world. Leading ophthalmologists from around the world contribute to ESASO’s training programme. ESASO faculty is privileged to include approximately 250 leaders from across the world, each with an exemplary clinical and research track record. All ESASO training courses offer high quality scientific content and extremely interactive lessons, allowing participants to share knowledge and experience with experts during classes or breaks.
ESASO’s educational programme is based on a modular system; five-day modules cover all ophthalmology’s subspecialties, to provide ophthalmologists with a complete post graduate educational offer, including: medical and surgical management of retinal conditions, cornea, refractive surgery, cataracts, glaucoma, uveitis, oculoplastics, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Each module offers theoretical and practical tuition, by combining theoretical lessons, wet-lab and dry -lab activities.
ESASO also offers 1-day training courses with surgical simulators, for participants to enhance technical skills and hands-on experience in vitreoretinal and cataract surgery.
Moreover, ESASO developed a Fellowship Programme, which includes different opportunities and thanks to which highly motivated talented ophthalmologists can specialise in a specific subject. ESASO Fellowship Programme offers participants the opportunity to refine and further develop their skills in the context of clinical ophthalmic surgery under the tuition of a renowned and prestigious faculty, in the best centres for ophthalmology in the world (Barcelona, Tel Aviv, New York, Cambridge, Rostock and others).
ETC – ESASO TRAINING CENTRE ESASO Training Centre (ETC) is an innovative lab and a first-rate institution for advanced ophthalmology education; it offers excellent equipment with plenty of opportunities for didactic training and hands-on education of ophthalmologists. Besides hosting ESASO modules and training courses, the ETC is available to other companies or institutions to organise congresses, courses or other training events in the field of ophthalmology or other medical subjects. ESASO CONGRESSES ESASO organises every year two congresses, hosted in different cities all over Europe, focusing on different fields of ophthalmology and standing out for their high quality level in terms of scientific content and didactic effectiveness: Retina Academy and Anterior Segment Academy. Moreover, ESASO organises several shorter sessions within other congress or events in the field of ophthalmology.
ESASO has recently established a Training Center in Lublin.
